Shop Hand

AAA Safety and Field Services is currently seeking a Shop Hand.

The Shop Hand is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the workshop by assisting with the organization, maintenance, and preparation of tools, equipment, and materials. This role involves a range of tasks from cleaning and organizing the shop area to assisting with minor repairs and ensuring the workshop runs smoothly. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of performing various physical tasks to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shop Organization & Maintenance:
   • Keep the workshop clean, organized, and free of hazards.
   • Maintain an orderly inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
   • Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored after use.
2. Tool & Equipment Support:
   • Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for various tasks.
   • Help with minor repairs and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.
   • Conduct regular checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
3. Material Handling:
   • Assist with receiving, storing, and distributing materials and supplies.
   • Ensure materials are handled safely and in accordance with safety guidelines.
4. Safety Compliance:
   • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
   • Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
   • Help enforce shop safety rules and regulations.
5. Administrative Support:
   • Assist with maintaining records of equipment usage and maintenance.
   • Help with basic administrative tasks such as filing and record-keeping as needed.
6. Team Support:
   • Provide support to shop staff and technicians as needed.
   • Assist with various shop-related tasks, including loading and unloading materials, assembling tools, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must have valid Class 5 or better Drivers Licence.
• Previous experience in a workshop or similar environment is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of workshop tools and equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift materials as needed.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to adhere to safety protocols.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
• Comfort with standing, bending, and performing manual labor for extended periods.

Work Environment:

• The Shop Hand will work in a workshop environment, which may include exposure to various tools, materials, and potential hazards.
• May require occasional overtime or flexible hours depending on shop needs.
